Mother’s Day is a day to honor mothers and celebrate the essence of motherhood in society. In a bid to share the joy of motherhood with children who are away from their biological parents due to circumstances beyond their control, Indomie through the Indomie Fan Club called for mothers across the country to visit and extend their love and care to children in orphanages, and hence celebrate the joy of motherhood.

The visit to orphanages was organized by Indomie to commemorate the 2021 Mother’s Day celebration. The occasion was also designed to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged children. Indomie led the mothers to visits orphanage homes across four cities of Lagos, Abuja, Onitsha, and Port Harcourt, reaching over 600 children through this gesture.

During the visit, the mothers spent time bonding and sharing their love with these kids over games and other activities and were then served with Indomie noodles. The kids and the mothers were also presented with different gift items including cartons of noodles donated to the orphanage home by Indomie.

Speaking at Living Fountain Orphanage, Victoria Island, one of the homes visited in Lagos, the National Coordinator of Indomie Fan Club, Faith Joshua said the essence of the visit was for the mothers to extend parental love beyond their biological children to the less privileged ones.

“Mother’s Day celebration for us at Indomie was a little different than usual this year. As so many prepared to spend the day with their loved ones by sending a letter, card, or gift items, we thought about celebrating this day with children whose circumstances have denied the privilege of enjoying the warmth and care of biological parents.  The avenue allowed us to show these precious kids how much they are loved and how much they are important by giving them a priceless experience while also celebrating mothers across the country,” she said

“If we look deep into the concept of Mother’s Day, we’ll realize that every day ought to be a Mother’s Day considering the critical role mothers play in the society. They are always relentlessly performing their duty towards ensuring the wellbeing of their children day-in and day-out, without fail, and without break. Hence, they deserve to be celebrated,” Faith added.

In her remarks, Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie who made a guest appearance at the event applauded the role mothers play in keeping the home together peacefully and also Indomie for recognizing this role and putting the event together to celebrate mothers. “Motherhood is the most important and selfless commitment a woman can make. I am very pleased to see how Indomie is acknowledging and celebrating these incredible mothers today,” she said.

Receiving the Indomie team at the Living Fountain Orphanage, the Home Matron, Victoria Solomon commended Indomie for the visit and product donations and expressed that the gesture and show of love will give a sense of belonging to the children. “We are grateful to Indomie for their kind gesture and we hope other corporate bodies and individuals will tow the path of Indomie in reaching out to the needy,” Solomon said.

Mother’s Day is an occasion where the world and children especially remember and acknowledge the essence and the effort that goes into birthing and raising children who grow up to be functional and responsible members of society. It is a special day for mothers as well as children as they get a special opportunity to relish the everlasting bond of love and affection between them.
