In keeping with the organisation’s commitment towards consistently enhancing and strengthening its network to deliver reliable and quality power supply to her customers, the Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has commenced commissioning of completed network expansion projects across its network.
This development was made known in Enugu by the Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, while briefing newsmen on the recent commissioning of the Ugwuogo 33KV line, and Onuebonyi 11KV line.
According to Ezeh, these projects are some of the many projects currently ongoing across the EEDC network.
The new Ugwuogo 33KV line which radiates from the New Haven Transmission Station, terminates at the Nike Lake Injection Substation which is housing the following Feeders: Amorji 11kV, Abakpa 3 11KV, Nike Lake 11KV and Ugwogo 33KV leg (which is serving most of the communities under Nike, Enugu).
Prior to the construction of the Ugwuogo 33KV line, the Nike Lake Injection Substation was being fed by Thinkers Corner Injection Substation.
“With this construction, the two Injection Substations will begin to perform optimally, with balanced load and minimal interruptions/tripping”.
Ezeh also said that the commissioned Onuebonyi 11KV feeder was created from Ochudo 1x15MVA Injection Substation.
Acording to him another project near completion is the FUTO 33KV line which will be ready for commissioning in two weeks’ time.
It will be recalled that in September, 2020, EEDC carried out the upgrade of its Trans Ekulu Injection Substation in Enugu, increasing the capacity from a 15MVA to a 22.5MVA, thereby drastically improving the quality of supply availability to customers served by the substation.
“About thirty network expansion projects valued at about N1.6 billion have been identified for execution, and these once completed will improve the quality of service to customers”, Ezeh said.
He further said that the company already purchased 180 units of distribution transformers of different ratings, valued at over N600 million, some of which are already being deployed across the network as relief to the overloaded substations and also as replacement for failed ones.
“All these underscore EEDC’s conscious effort towards improving the capacity of its infrastructure, reducing its losses, improving its revenue and ultimately enhancing customer experience”.
