This week alone not less than five lives have been lost in Mashegu and Rafi local government areas with 10 others injured and scores kidnapped. Over 1000 cows were rustled in the Mashegu incident alone.
But Governor Bago in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Bologi Ibrahim made available to newsmen in Minna on Thursday said the administration is doing everything possible to stem the horrible trend.
“The government is working tirelessly to bring an end to the menace affecting some parts of the state and improve on the general security of the state” the statement said before also emphasizing that “the safety and well-being of the citizens is topmost on its priority” adding that “measures have been taken to end criminalities in the state”.
The Governor declared: “My people, I am deeply concerned with the security situation in some parts of the state, it is a collective pain. My government is not resting on its oars in making sure lives and property are protected adequately in the State”.
He advised the people to keep faith in God and his administration saying that “evil will never overcome good, and there shall be light at the end of the tunnel”.
Bago acknowledged the sacrifices of the conventional and non-conventional security operatives in addressing the situation but urged them to redouble their efforts before assuring them of the government’s unflinching support.
