Adegbite calls for synergy with Ministry of Mines, Steel devt

Minister of Mines and Steel Development (MMSD), Mr. Olamilekan Adegbite has called for synergy between the ministry and other relevant sister agencies to promote understanding and cordial working relationship.

 

Adegbite made the call at the sensitisation workshop organised by the ministry for officers of the anti- corruption agencies and selected security establishments on the functioning of the ministry and its agencies on Wednesday in Abuja.

 

The minister was quoted to have said this in a statement issued by Mrs Etore Thomas, Director Press of the ministry, adding that MMSD and other MDAs were bound by a broad common objective of achieving good governance for the country.

 

He said that they were bound through achieving promotion of security, favourable working environment, prosperity and welfare to Nigerians that would promote and attract investment potential.

 

He noted that as the ministry strived to deliver on its mandate, it was expected of all sister agencies, whose responsibilities are interwoven with the ministry to play their role of creating enabling environment for MMSD.

 

He urged the agencies to create enabling environment, as agencies of government would not afford to work at cross-purpose.

 

In his remarks, Dr Uchechukwu Ogah, Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development said the workshop could not have come at a better time as it would afford critical stakeholders the opportunity to strategise and form mutual understanding.

 

According to him, the synergy will assist the ministry in harnessing the enormous potential in the mining sector for employment generation and wealth creation which will expand the revenue base of the nation’s economy.

 

Also, Mrs Oluwatoyin Akinlade, Permanent Secretary in the ministry said the workshop was meant to build mutual understanding and amicable working relationship between the ministry and agencies in the mining sector.

 

She solicited for greater and added that the ministry would be willing to work with the agencies on ideas and programmes that are in consonance with the ministry’s vision and mandate.
