..Call Ngige to order, Anambra APC Youth Vanguard tells National Interim Chair

Aggrieved All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Anambra state have urged the leadership of the party and President Muhammadu Buhari to nullify Sen. Andy Uba’s nomination as the party candidate in the Nov. 6 poll in the state.

They vowed also to report the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to Buhari for declaring Uba as the party’s candidate in the poll.

Led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority, George Moghalu, the aspirants numbering 11, said there was no primary election of the party that produced Uba, describing his emergence as the candidate of the party as “fraudulent”.

Abiodun had declared Uba the winner of the primary election with 230, 201 votes while his closest rival, Johnbosco Onunkwo, polled a total of 28,746 votes.

Rejecting the results announced by the Abiodun-led APC election committee, the aspirants called for a fresh primary election in the state.

Moghalu at a press conference in Awka, the state capital, said if APC is desirous to win the poll in the state, a fresh primary of the party should be conducted transparently to produce its standard-bearer for the November poll.

“Anybody who claimed that there was a primary election in Anambra APC governorship is fraudulent and does not wish APC well in the November 6 election,” he said.

He appealed to the party’s leadership, especially the President to save the party from doom by conducting a fresh primary of the party in the state where all the aspirants would participate in the contest.

Reacting, however, Uba described his victory as a collective one, urging his APC co-aspirants to join hands with him to win the governorship for the party in November.

He said, “I have accepted to be the party’s flag bearer for the 6th November polls and appeal to my co-contestants to join hands with me to deliver the state for APC.”

Meanwhile, a legal practitioner in the state, Kelechi Agbasere, had on Monday threatened to take up the matter if the APC failed to redo the primary election.

“I can say this anywhere that Senator Andy Uba connived with Governor Abiodun to hijack the election. We can’t allow this to be. If Andy Uba thinks he is marketable, he should have allowed the process open to test his popularity.” he said.

Meanwhile, The Anambra All Progressives Congress, APC Youth Vanguard has called on the National Interim Caretaker Committee of the party led by Alhaji Mai Mala Buni to call Senator Chris Ngige to order over his alleged activities against suitable candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.

The youth group said that Ngige was causing more harm to the party than good which may adversely affect its chances of winning the November 6, Anambra governorship election.

A statement  by Engr.Okwudili Ohabuenyi (Chairman) and Stanley Okeke (Secretary) said, “The attention of our Support Group has been drawn to the unfortunate attacks, vetuparations against the APC Electoral Committee for the Anambra Gubernatorial Primaries led by His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State in the course of discharging their duty to the Party and our people by some disgruntled elements.

“We are pained by the uncomplimentary and divisive comments that are aimed at disorganizing the Party, depleting its support base and cursing disaffection among members at this crucial time of preparing for the coming Anambra November 6th governorship election.

“We are flabbergasted to observe that this shenanigans and outburst against the APC, it’s Electoral Committee and the gubernatorial candidate for the Anambra election is shamefully led by no other than Senator Chris Ngige.

“We find it irreconcilable that Dr. Ngige, who has benefited and enjoyed unparalleled patronage and magnanimity from the APC is hell bent on bringing the party to its lowest ebb because of his self interest gratification and personal aggrandizement.

“His call for the cancellation and postponement of election that was conducted by the ably Electoral Committee led by his Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun that produced a winner in the person of Sen. Dr. Andy Ubah after following laid down electoral rules of our great Party amount to an utterance in bad faith and anti-party activities.

“We call on the National Interim Management Committee of the APC led by His Excellency Alhaji Mai Mala Buni to call Senator Chris Ngige to order before he does more harm to our party that is standing the greatest chance of winning the November 6th Anambra governorship election.

“We call on all party faithfuls in the 21 Local Governments and Ndi Anambra at home and in the Diaspora to support this efficient, vibrant and dedicated APC candidate in the person of Senator Dr. Andy Ubah”.
