Anambra NYSC members celebrate twelve serving Corp  members for marrying each other

It was pump and pageantry on Wednesday as members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra state celebrated twelve of their own that got married to each to each other.

The couples from the 2019 Batch ‘C’ set with some others redeployed to the state, said they met their missing rib during their orientation camp or documentation before proceeding to commence their primary assignments at their different organisations in the state.

The couples include Eze Obinna and Oluchi Peace, Henry Nwachoko and Charles Ruth, Oluchukwu Davis and Ahedo Etiosa.

Others are Nsofor Obianuju and Ohale Nkemakolam, Ogburie Collins and Nwokearu Chinyeremaka, Bernard Faith Amarachi and Okafor Chukwudi.

 

The State Coordinator, NYSC, Mr. Kehinde Aremu who spoke at the event described the event as unique, saying that there had never been an assemblage of marriage in the history of the Scheme.

 

He said, “We thank Governor Willie Obiano for creating a conducive environment and his commitment towards welfare of Corps members in the state.

 

“This success story doesn’t end with service year. Anambra is conducive for everything. If the environment was unfriendly, this couldn’t have been possible.You’ve invested emotions, but invest money in developing the state.”

 

While calling on the celebrants to reciprocate by investing in the state, he also cited the friendly disposition of the people of the state and the government as another factor that contributed to the marriage story.

 

By Pamela Eboh Awka Date In her speech, the Assistant Director, Corps Welfare and Health Services, Mrs. Ify Nwafor stressed that one of the reasons for establishing the scheme was for integration, even while giving corpers members opportunity to meet the love of their lives.

 

She added, “Marriage as a journey can be both fun and hell. You came, you served and married. I pray for you all to have a joyful and loving married,” she said.

 

One of the couples, Onyema Nwachoko said he met his wife while she was praying at the family house of the Christian Corpers fellowship.

 

He thanked both God and the government for creating the NYSC platform saying that without NYSC, she  wouldn’t have met my wife,” he added.
