Buhari , Atiku, Oyetola mourn Babalakin,  Gen. Wushishi

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff General Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi as the sad loss of “a thoroughbred professional soldier, an officer and a gentleman whose contributions to the fatherland are immeasurable.”

 

Reacting to the news of the passing of the former Army chief, President Buhari said that “General Wushishi had a distinguished military career and we are proud of his impressive service to the country.”

 

According to the President, “General Wushishi was an epitome of discipline and dedication to service, and he was a role model for both the officers and the rank and file.”

 

The President extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Nigerian Army, as well as the Government and people of Niger State.

Also, Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the death of two outstanding statesmen, Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin and General Muhammed Wushishi who passed away on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

 

Atiku, in a press release signed by his media office on Sunday said that the death of the two great Nigerians one day apart was a great loss to the country.

 

He describes the late legal luminary, Babalakin, as someone who contributed immensely to the law profession in Nigeria, both at the Bar and Bench, and remarks that “the legacies he left behind will remain indelible for a long time to come.”

 

The former Vice President also stated that General Wushishi had an outstanding military career, lived a worthy life and carried himself with dignity as an ambassador and icon of the great people of Wushishi in Niger State.

 

Atiku sends his sympathy and condolences to the two families of Babalakin and Wushishi on the loss of their patriarchs, and prays to the Almighty Allah to forgive their shortcoming and grant the two departed souls into Aljannah Firdaus.

 

Likewise, Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has mourned the passing of  Pa Bolarinwa Oyegoke Babalakin, who died on Saturday at the age of 94.

 

Oyetola condoled his family, especially Dr. Wale Babalakin, SAN, and the entire Muslim Ummah in Gbongan and the State at large.

 

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, the Governor said the former Supreme Court Judge lived a pious, worthy and exemplary life that was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity.

 

He added that Pa Babalakin would be greatly missed.

 

Oyetola said: “Death, as we all know is inevitable. But we are always pained by the death of our loved ones. The late Pa Bolarinwa’s death is a huge loss to the State.

 

“He lived a pious, fulfilled and exemplary life that was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity. Baba was peace loving.  I pray Allah to forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Aljanah Firdaus.”
