Imo state Commissioner for Tourism, Brr. Jerry Egemba said that the state is a place of hospitality and tourism

He therefore called on all investors and other stakeholders to come to the state and tap from the potentials in about dance

Speaking at the one day training on hospitality leadership and management and end of the year activities of the Nigeria Hotels Association Imo state chapter, Thursday, in Owerri, the state Commissioner, noted that hospitality subsector is an integral part of the tourism industry

The Commissioner assured that his ministry would give the desired boost to attract patronage through conventions, conference, workshop, holiday packages and attract investments

Also he said ” the state government has the desire to improve on the human capital development in the industry”

He added, ” training of personnel involved in any aspect of tourism is part of the core mandate of the ministry”

The Commissioner further noted that operators in tourism and hospitality industry, play by global tourism industry best practices and standards

In his own address, the Chief Servant of the Nigeria Hotel Association, Imo state chapter, Mr  Chima Chukwunyere noted that the Hotel is the second largest employer of labour after the state government

According to him, ” the industry plays vital role revenue generation through tax payment which helped to revamp the economy of the state”

He said that the association is committed in sustaining the tempo as the association continue to partner with Government

The Chief Servant urged the Commissioner to be the mother general and ever willing to protect the larger family from revenue touts, hawks and criminals who are going round looking for whom to scam

He said the biggest challenges of the association is how to get a credible leadership pointing out that the little time he has spent as the Chief Servant of the association, has been very difficult traumatic, stressful with challenges
