OAU Student’s death: Court refuses bail application of Adedoyin, 6 hotel staff

An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, on Monday denied the bail application of the founder of Oduduwa University and owner of Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife alongside six staff members of the hotel over the death of a post graduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU), Ile-Ife.

 

The defendants: Dr Rahmon Adedoyin, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola are faced with a eleven-count charge bothering on murder, conspiracy, felony amongst others.

 

The defendants’ counsels had earlier filed bail applications to the court last week.

 

The Presiding and Chief Judge of Osun, Adepele Ojo refused the bail applications of the defendants stating that their health conditions are not critical.

 

The counsel to the defendants, Adekunle Adegoke, K. K Eleja and Okon Ita had moved the bail application for seven defendants which was opposed by the prosecutor, M O Omosun.

 

The bail was argued by the counsel and the prosecutor.

 

Justice Ojo denied the bail applications of the defendants and reserved ruling till Monday.
