The Speaker House of Representatives Hon.Femi Gbajabiamila has assured the  first female speakership candidate of the Pan African Parliamentary election Hon.Achiata Haidara of Mali of support in the forthcoming election in South Africa.

The Speaker gave the assurance on Friday when the female candidate came to solicit the support of the House and entire Nigerian parliament for the speakership position in the famous Pan African Parliament.

The visitor had told the Speaker, that the visit to the Nigerian parliament is to garner the support of the lawmaker and his colleagues on the upcoming speakership election in South Africa.

She also hinted that she is the first female candidate to vie for the top position since the inauguration of the continental parliamentary institution.

Gbajabiamila however assured the Malian first female candidate of total support and encouraged her to go ahead and contest the speakership position.

He said, “you supported us when one of our own late Bethel Amadi contested for the same position. So we ‘ll support you”.

The Speaker recalled the cordial relationship between Nigeria and Mali noting that Nigeria is at the fore front of sending troops to Mali to quell political crisis in that African country in the past.

He also enjoined the august visitor and candidate for the speakership position to have a memorable view of Nigeria and enjoy the hospitality the most populous African country can offer to her before the contest.
