Police IG presents N2.8m cheques to families of fallen heroes in Plateau

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbelokun, has on Wednesday presented a cheques of N2,807,445.90 million to the Police officers who paid a supreme price while in active service for the nation.

The Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Hassan Steve Yabanet,while presenting the group Life assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme Cheques to the beneficiaries at the Commands’ Headquarters, Jos, on behalf of the IGP, said the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) sympathised with the families of the deceased officers.

The CP said that his Command shares in their grieve as their breadwinners were personnel of his Command before their demise.

He told the beneficiaries that the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, prioritizes the welfare of both serving members of the force and families of deceased Police officers.

According to the CP, “the amount written in their cheques might not be sufficient to satisfy their enormous needs but it will go a long way in cushioning the effect caused by the loss.”

The Plateau Police Chief further advised them to use the sums issued to them judiciously to cater for their needs and that of their children, adding that the IGP appreciates the uncommon sacrifices of their lost loved ones.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Gana Laitu Joseph thanked the IGP and CP for expediting action on the issue of their benefits and prayed to God to continue to protect Policemen and their families against misfortunes.
