Precious Paints has distributed foodstuffs to some residents of the Ikotun-Egbe area of Lagos in commemoration of its 15th anniversary.

A crowd besieged the food distribution point located along Isolo Road in Ikotun, Lagos, on Tuesday to receive packs of noodles and small packs of rice.

Speaking with The PUNCH, the Human Resource Manager of Precious Paints, Nwadah Ejikeme, said, “We are celebrating our 15th anniversary as a company, and you know, in this country, it is not easy for a company to even survive five years based on the economy. But we have been able to achieve a lot in the past 15 years, and we are standing strong, even better, in these hard times.

“We decided to give back to society because we really understand what is going on in society and how the economy is biting everyone. So, we decided to put smiles on people’s faces.”

Ejikeme added that the food distribution was done annually but that this year it was increased to accommodate more people.

“We are targeting at least 1,000 people or households,” he said.

Ejikeme, however, lamented that the economic situation of the country had put pressure on the average Nigerian and, by extension, such food drives as theirs.

He noted, “It is a very big challenge doing this. From my observation, the economic situation has really made this kind of distribution harder for us because we have been doing it for the past few years and it goes so swiftly and so easily. But the crowd we have this time around is just too much, and the pressure of the people who want to receive the packs is much on us. So, we are doing everything that we can to see how we can get it done.”
