The Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State on Wednesday said that the resignation of Mr. Doyin Okupe, Campaign Director-General of Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, had projected Nigeria positively to the world.

Okupe stepped down from the position on Tuesday.

His resignation followed the ruling by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that convicted him (Okupe) of violating the money laundering Act.

Okupe, in his resignation letter,, said it was better not to allow his personal interest distract the campaign of Obi and that of the party, hence his decision to step aside.

Reacting to Okupe’s decision, Mrs Olubunmi Odesanya, the LP Publicity Secretary, Lagos state,  told newsmen that Okupe had raised the bar and the standard for others to follow.

Odesanya said that Okupe’s decision remained honourable to clear his name through the nation’s legal system.

“We are standing by him (Okupe). This is a great and noble step taken by our leader, Doyin Okupe.

“He (Okupe) is projecting Nigeria in a positive light to the world. We are proud of him,” the LP spokesperson said.

In another development, the Labour Party gain momentum as they received over 3,000 decampees from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Plateau State.

The decampees were officially unveiled during the party’s campaign flag-off Wednesday, held at Langtang North mini stadium.

The governorship candidate of Labour Party in the state, Dr. Patrick Dakum said Nigeria is blinking and it’s party is the only one that can salvage the country from collapsing.

Dakum said when the presidential candidate of Labour Party party came to Plateau they seat down and discuss extensively on how to change the narrative of governance of Plateau and Nigeria.

According to him, ” Labour Party is keen on restructuring the security architecture of the country and Plateau is not exceptional if I elected as Governor in 2023.

“I am determined to revolutionize the agricultural sector by providing fertilizer blinding plant across the three senatorial zones of the state. Provision of factory to take care of production. Revitalizing education, health, water resources, mining, tourism and other sectors of the economy.”

Edward Pwajok SAN, who is Dakum running mate said the presence of Labour Party in Plateau is the clear indication that change has come to stay in the state, urging citizens to get  their voters card ready to end excruciating pains and agony APC administration plunge Nigerians.

The state chairman of Labour Party Grace Zamfara alongside director general Dakum/Pwajok campaign organization said Plateau people suffer all manner of abuse, assault and relegated to the background as a result of APC maladministration.

The duo task party loyalists as well as Plateau to get their PVC to votes for Obi/Datti in Presidency, Dakum/Pwajok for Plateau governorship and all Labour Party positions in 2023.

Other speakers who spoke said they were sick and tired of ruling APC mismanagement of Plateau resources is enough. It is time to elect nation builders not exploiters.Labour Party is the only solution for Nigeria.
