The Anglican Bishop of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Owerri, Rt Rev Chukwuma Chinekezi Oparah has declared that Nigeria has not recovered from her sickness

According to the Bishop  who addressed the congregation of the church recently in Owerri,  ” we as a church have been watching and praying for her recovery”

Bishop Oparah noted, ” the ailment holding the country is so sever as every part of her’s is affected and each day she experiences a new symptom of a different ailment in addition to the already existing ones ”

He believed that the root cause of Nigeria’s problem is bordered on leadership both present and past

According to the Bishop, ” the truth is that the top political class is recycling themselves for the past 20years plus and decamping from one political party to the other”

The Bishop said” this shows that most of the political leaders have no meaningful agenda for this country ”

He added that ” Nigeria needs visionary, selfish, fearless, dynamic leaders who can Champion the eradication of ills in this country”

The Bishop expressed deep worry over the killings, kidnappings and other heinous crimes taking root in the country

He said, ” the masses are crying, human life is no longer anything as compare to the life of animals”

The Bishop observed that people are being slaughtered on daily bases in the name of ritual killings, herdsmen banditry, Boko Haram, insurgency and the likes

He recalled that about 50 passengers on Kaduna –Abuja train journey, who were abducted by the Fulani bandits are still under captivity

The Bishop expressed further worries that religious intolerance is now on the increase pointing out , the recent killing of the 200 level student of Shehu Shagari College of education Sokoto state Miss Deborah Samuel

He said corruption  has also taken over the Nation and questioned ” who can deliver us?”
