The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG),has cited the need to make the jobs and lives of members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers arm of the union better, as reason for initiating a health insurance cover for them.
The General Secretary of NUPENG,Comrade Afolabi Olawale said the scheme, the first of its kind in the anals of the union’s history,will be launched in Lagos on Thursday,adding that” Our Petroleum Tanker Drivers have been of immense service to every home,office and industrial places. The insurance cover will also make their jobs easier and lives better.
The General Secretary disclosed that the cover tagged “Health Insurance for Petroleum Drivers on the Wheel”, is in furtherance of one of the key objectives of NUPENG,which is to cater to the working and socio/economic conditions of members.
Olawale also noted that the scheme is for all Petroleum Tanker Drivers on the wheels to further support the drivers as they go about delivering their core assignments across the country.
Olawale said:” It is a landmark initiative of the leadership of the union and the Petroleum Tanker Drivers branch of the union, for the health and well-being of every Petroleum Tanker Drivers member of the Union “.
