The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said African region has made significant progress in efforts to totally eradicate poliovirus, as it recorded 31% decrease in the number of detections of the virus in 12 months.
The WHO regional Director for Africa, Matshidiso Moeti, in a statement to mark the day, said the development has put Africa at a threshold of polio eradication, if the feat is sustained.
